Tết là ngày hội thăng hoa của văn hoá Việt Nam, là ngày hội của con người hoà hợp với cộng đồng. Nó mang đậm nét văn hoá dân tộc sâu sắc và độc đáo! Những người làm ăn xa, những người Việt sống xa quê đều thấy lòng mình náo nức, bồi hồi mỗi khi tết đến, xuân về. Quê hương là hồn nước nằm tĩnh lặng trong mỗi con người. Những người đã xa nhà, xa nước hàng mấy chục năm, trong giấc mơ của mình thường vẫn thấy hiện lên mái nhà xưa, con đường nhỏ, mùi hương lúa quen thuộc. Về quê ăn Tết là về với ông bà, cha mẹ, về với những kỷ niệm thời thơ ấu, về với mảnh đất nơi đã sinh ra mình. Tết - ngày hội của sự đoàn tụ, ấm cúng.
Trong không khí xuân về, không gian Tu viện Khánh An dường như cũng trở nên rộn ràng hơn. Các thầy, các sư chú không ai bảo ai, đều tất bậc chuẩn bị cho ngày Tết. Chú Trung Lực thì phát tâm dựng cổng hoa, trang trí lồng đèn. Thầy Trung Lý, chú Trung Thọ thì làm tiểu cảnh. Có 3 nhóm tiểu cảnh được thực hiện: nhóm núi non, thác bể, nhóm làng quê và nhóm "Đồi khỉ". Dù miệt mài với việc xây dựng nhà bếp, nhà ăn, nhà Tăng, Thầy vẫn thường lui tới xem các chú làm việc. Trông Thầy không khỏe lắm, một sư chú hỏi Thầy: “Bạch, Sư phụ có được khỏe không ạ! Con thấy Thầy có vẻ hơi mệt”. Thầy mỉm cười và trả lời: “Cuối năm, việc nhiều. Việc Giáo hội quận, việc xây dựng... cũng làm thầy khá mệt.”.. Thấy Thầy Trung Lý đang tạo hình ba con khỉ bịt mắt, bịt tai, bịt miệng. Thầy hỏi vui Thầy Trung Lý, "Con là con nào trong số 3 con khỉ này”. Thầy Trung Lý mủm mỉm: “Dạ! Con chọn con khỉ bịt miệng!”. Tất cả mọi người đều cười. Thật vui!
Khác với tiểu cảnh năm trước là cánh đồng lúa, nhà tranh vách đất, một khu cảnh đồng quê thật mộc mạc giản dị. Năm nay là năm Bính Thân, Thầy Trung Lý và chú Trung Thọ làm tiểu cảnh khác hơn. Một ngọn núi hùng vĩ hiện lên bên hông hàng tùng. Dưới chân nui là hồ sen bát ngát. Phía trước hồ sen là bồn hoa được kết lại thành hình logo Tu viện Khánh An. Phía bên kia hàng mai chiếu thủy là mái nhà tranh vách đất đậm nét dân dã, thôn quê. Phía sau nhà có khóm mía xanh rì. Một khung cảnh hiếm gặp ở chốn phồn hoa đô hội. Vì là năm khỉ nên Thầy Trung Lý và chú Trung Thọ phát tâm làm ba con khỉ: bịt mắt, bịt tai, bịt miệng và một số chú khỉ con để bố trí trong tiểu cảnh ngày tết. Công việc diễn ra thật tất bật và có phần hơi vất vả, Thầy Trung Lý nói vui: “Đúng là mệt thiệt nhưng mà vui, làm tiểu cảnh để bà con mình về ngắm. Bà con mình thấy vui là mình vui rồi!”. Có những lúc Tu viện không có bùn để trồng sen phục vụ cho tiểu cảnh, các chú phải đi tận xa để lấy bùn. Nhìn mình mẩy lem luốc sình bùn mà thấy thương. Chú Trung Hậu bộc bạch: “Lúc đầu nhìn ao bùn em thấy oải quá, trong bụng nghĩ thầm, mình mà phóng xuống ao bùn này ngứa chắc chết quá! Nhưng khi xuống lấy bùn thấy vui lắm, em thấy bùn không dơ như mình tưởng. Lúc đó, em lại nhớ đến lời của sư phụ, nếu không có bùn thì sẽ không có sen, và chắc chắn không có các loài thực vật nào sống được trong ao này. Cho nên lúc đó em nghĩ, bùn cũng có những giá trị đích thực của nó”.
Còn chú Trung Lực năm nay cũng phát tâm làm tiểu cảnh, nhưng không làm cây mai như năm trước mà treo lồng đèn. Có những đêm chú thức tới sáng để trang trí tiểu cảnh cho kịp ngày tết. Một sư chú hỏi chú Lực: “ Huynh Lực! Huynh có mệt không, sao giỏi quá dạ. Ban ngày thì dang nắng chang chang, ban đêm thì thức trắng”. Chú cười thật tươi và nói: “Trung Lực mà! Khỏe trong lúc làm việc, vui trong lúc làm việc. Được làm là cơ hội cống hiến. Đó là điều hành phúc nhất”. Đến đây, lại nhớ đến câu chuyện của cố HT. Tâm Thanh kể về HT. Thiện Hòa lúc HT. Tâm Thanh đang học tại Phật học đường Nam Việt. Hòa thượng kể rằng, HT. Thiện Hòa là Giám đốc Phật học đường Nam Việt, sau này là Phó Tăng Thống. Có lần trong đêm khuya, khoảng 1h ngài đi vệ sinh thì thấy Hòa thượng Thiện Hòa đang lom khom chùi nhà vệ sinh. Ngài giât mình nói: “Hòa thượng, sao người làm việc này, việc này để chúng con làm”. Hòa thượng Thiện Hoà cười nói: “Tâm Thanh à! Ban ngày vì sợ mọi người ngại cái mác Giám đốc Phật học đường nên Thầy chùi nhà vệ sinh ban đêm, chùi cho sạch sẽ để mọi người đi. Tu làm sao để mọi người thấy vui là được rồi, là tịnh độ rồi đó Tâm Thanh”. Một hình ảnh thật đẹp, câu nói thật đơn giản nhưng sâu sắc.
Một dấu ấn đặc trưng nữa của tết là bánh chưng bánh tét. Năm nào cũng vậy, Tu viện cũng gói bánh tét để biếu bà con láng giềng và cho những Phật tử về viếng Tu viện dùng. Trong một lần họp chúng, Thầy Quảng Thức tự khoe những năm tu học ở Thiền viện Sơn Thắng, thầy lo phần bánh tét cho Thiền viện. Thế là Thầy Viện chủ chỉ luôn, vậy QT lo khâu banh tét cho tết này nhé. Thầy nói: “Miền Bắc có bánh chưng, miền Nam thì bánh tét. Đây sản phẩm văn hoá ẩm thực truyền thống ngày tết của ông bà, chúng ta nên gìn giữ". Sau gần 1 ngày gói, hơn 20 Phật tử về tham gia và suốt một đêm nấu bánh, với số lượng gần 500 đòn. Thầy bảo mấy chú đi biếu bánh tét cho một số Phật tử ân nhân và bà con xóm làng. Tưởng đâu biếu một nửa số lượng đã nấu. Đi biếu đến chiều, mấy chú về thưa lại "Bạch Thầy, gần 500 đòn bánh và mấy trăm cuốn lịch biếu hết rồi. Mấy cô nhóm chợ ngoài đầu đường hỏi, rồi mấy cô đi chợ cũng xin. Nhận được bánh Tu viện, mấy cô vui lắm. Thầy hỏi: vậy còn bánh để Tu viện đón tết còn không? Sư chú ậm à, dạ dạ... chúng con gói nữa. Thế là thêm một ngày gói bánh là một đêm nấu nữa.
Khung cảnh gói bánh, nấu bánh thật vui. Nhìn quí thầy cùng các cô, các bà tay thoăng thoắc gói mà lòng ai cũng hoan hỷ, luôn nở nụ cười. Nụ cười ngày tết.
Ngoài kia, mai đã vàng rực một khoảng sân. Năm nào cũng vậy, tầm 28, 29 là chị Tốt cho chở mai vào cúng Tu viện. Điều này đã diễn ra suốt gần 20 năm. Trước đây là ông bà Cụ, ông bà cao niên rồi không trồng mai nữa. Chị Tốt là người tiếp việc bố mẹ làm và cứ tết đến là chị cho xe chở mai về. Năm nay, chị đưa về Khánh An 20 chậu dâng cúng Tam Bảo.
Mọi thứ chuẩn bị cho ngày Tết cũng đã gần xong, mọi người trong Tu viện ai nấy cũng mệt nhưng vẫn nở nụ cười thật tươi. Có lẽ đây là nụ cười của hạnh phúc và của sự hiến tặng niềm vui. Ai nấy cũng đang chuẩn bị chào đón một mùa xuân nữa, mùa xuân của an lạc và tràn đầy niềm vui!

Có những đêm chú thức tới sáng để trang trí tiểu cảnh cho kịp ngày tết. Một sư chú hỏi chú Lực: “ Huynh Lực! Huynh có mệt không, sao giỏi quá dạ. Ban ngày thì dang nắng chang chang, ban đêm thì thức trắng”. Chú cười thật tươi và nói: “Trung Lực mà! Khỏe trong lúc làm việc, vui trong lúc làm việc. Được làm là cơ hội cống hiến. Đó là điều hành phúc nhất”. Đến đây, lại nhớ đến câu chuyện của cố HT. Tâm Thanh kể về HT. Thiện Hòa lúc HT. Tâm Thanh đang học tại Phật học đường Nam Việt. Hòa thượng kể rằng, HT. Thiện Hòa là Giám đốc Phật học đường Nam Việt, sau này là Phó Tăng Thống. Có lần trong đêm khuya, khoảng 1h ngài đi vệ sinh thì thấy Hòa thượng Thiện Hòa đang lom khom chùi nhà vệ sinh. Ngài giât mình nói: “Hòa thượng, sao người làm việc này, việc này để chúng con làm”. Hòa thượng Thiện Hoà cười nói: “Tâm Thanh à! Ban ngày vì sợ mọi người ngại cái mác Giám đốc Phật học đường nên Thầy chùi nhà vệ sinh ban đêm, chùi cho sạch sẽ để mọi người đi. Tu làm sao để mọi người thấy vui là được rồi, là tịnh độ rồi đó Tâm Thanh”. Năm nào cũng vậy, Tu viện cũng gói bánh tét để biếu bà con láng giềng và cho những Phật tử về viếng Tu viện dùng. Trong một lần họp chúng, Thầy Quảng Thức tự khoe những năm tu học ở Thiền viện Sơn Thắng, thầy lo phần bánh tét cho Thiền viện. Thế là Thầy Viện chủ chỉ luôn, vậy QT lo khâu banh tét cho tết này nhé. Thầy nói: “Miền Bắc có bánh chưng, miền Nam thì bánh tét. Đây sản phẩm văn hoá ẩm thực truyền thống ngày tết của ông bà, chúng ta nên gìn giữ". Sau gần 1 ngày gói, hơn 20 Phật tử về tham gia và suốt một đêm nấu bánh, với số lượng gần 500 đòn. Thầy bảo mấy chú đi biếu bánh tét cho một số Phật tử ân nhân và bà con xóm làng. Tưởng đâu biếu một nửa số lượng đã nấu. Đi biếu đến chiều, mấy chú về thưa lại "Bạch Thầy, gần 500 đòn bánh và mấy trăm cuốn lịch biếu hết rồi. Mấy cô nhóm chợ ngoài đầu đường hỏi, rồi mấy cô đi chợ cũng xin. Nhận được bánh Tu viện, mấy cô vui lắm. Thầy hỏi: vậy còn bánh để Tu viện đón tết còn không? Sư chú ậm à, dạ dạ... chúng con gói nữa. Thế là thêm một ngày gói bánh là một đêm nấu nữa. </span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times;">Khung cảnh gói bánh, nấu bánh thật vui. Nhìn quí thầy cùng các cô, các bà tay thoăng thoắc gói mà lòng ai cũng hoan hỷ, luôn nở nụ cười. Năm nào cũng vậy, tầm 28, 29 là chị Tốt cho chở mai vào cúng Tu viện. Điều này đã diễn ra suốt gần 20 năm. Trước đây là ông bà Cụ, ông bà cao niên rồi không trồng mai nữa. Chị Tốt là người tiếp việc bố mẹ làm và cứ tết đến là chị cho xe chở mai về.
